Though it’s the most intimate of our three permanent structures, the Family Cabin is thoughtfully designed to deliver comfort, charm, and functionality.
Step inside to a spacious living area anchored by a stunning stone fireplace — the perfect gathering spot after a day on the trails, slopes, river, or at one of our on-site events. The adjoining dining area opens to a screened-in porch overlooking the lake, offering peaceful sunrise coffee moments and relaxing evening views.
The fully equipped kitchen features granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and brand-new (2025) cookware and essentials — whether you're cooking up a family breakfast or hosting a lakeside dinner.

About the Hansen Family The Hansen family is the heart and soul behind Big Rock Creek. Led by Matriarch and Patriarch Brad and Teresa Hansen, they bring their love for the outdoors to every aspect of the property. Their four children—Josh, Justin, Jeremy, and Becky—are all deeply involved in Big Rock Creek’s operations. Josh and his wife Kari have three kids: Bella, Madison, and Henry. Justin and his wife Alesia have three children: Oliver, Claire, and Layne. Jeremy is the proud dad of Paisley, Alivia, and Jett. Becky and her husband Jayson have four kids: Austin, Evelyn, Tucker, and Hank. As a family, the Hansens share a passion for the great outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. Their dedication to creating memorable outdoor experiences shines through at Big Rock Creek, making it a special place for families to enjoy together. About the Johnson Family The Johnson family—Troy, Vanessa, Autum, and Justus—also play a key role in the magic of Big Rock Creek. Cancellation Policy: Ninety percent (90.00%) of the total booking charges (less $100.00 taxable cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 60 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
Rates vary by season and during special event weekends at Big Rock Creek. Planning a longer getaway? Discounts are available for 7-night stays — the perfect way to settle in, slow down, and fully enjoy everything the property and surrounding area have to offer. A cleaning fee and applicable taxes will be added at booking. Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and enjoy a relaxed 11:00 AM checkout so you don’t have to rush your final morning. Want to start your stay sooner? Early check-in (1:00 PM) is available for $50 and can be added at booking, based on availability. Direct access to Polk County snowmobile trails (weather permitting). Our brand-new on-site swimming pool opens Summer 2026.
